11-04-08  I just finished mixing a new recording at Worm Farm for the Worm Farm Sampler.  The song is "Super Side" which is a resurrection of an old song of mine from way back in 2001 when I first moved into the car-dealership subdivision of oily-cookie-cutter southeast Michigan suburbia.  The new version is a complete revamp: different changes and new lyrics but maintains the original rhythm and accent and story.  The song will be available on the media page when the sampler is released.  Meanwhile, enjoy reading the lyrics (click here).  Jiggs Elko performed some mean percussion.

Because of teaching sixth graders, Ballast water, the album, is on hiatus until I have more time.  It is NOT a sinking ship!  The songs are still VERY alive and I still feel them strongly.

7-20-08 The Ballast Water Sessions have finally begun!  HERE, I will treat you with a pending track list: Grass and Gold, Ballast Water, Invasive Species, Still 'Neath Water, Escanaba Bridge, Shoulders, Saturday Morning, The Other Side, The Cosmos Knows!  (i know what you're thinking, "albums with obvious themes are usually  weak in creativity! Well my sour-puss of a friend!  These songs were written well before their christened titles and have little to do with each other in regards to their suggestive themes) HERE enlies a lyric from shoulders, "from all the waste you're spraying out, and all the words come water-foam, slipped lips are making serious for all the walls of plankton!" HERE, I will prematurely present you with other new working songs and their christened titles that may or may not end up on the album: work work work, her i love, brain melt, a'floatn' a'frayed, shiloh will come, below the ocean snow!  ... Play and be marry my fellow countrymyn!

-24-08  Tonight there just might be an Animatic reunion between a certain key boardist and Jer!  This might just involve the song, South Easterner. Totally Awesome Festival IV begins at the dreamland theater tonight with Animatic, Fields of Industry, and Poly and the Sexual Animals.  It will be a ruckus!  A rag tag bananza as it will last throughout the weekend in different and the same places!  SO SWIVEL YOUR RUDDER AND COME ON OVER!  Beware of certain pan cakes and please yourself with others!  This is the fourth annual TAF.  It began in a living room and blossomed into a festival!

3-5-08
chicago skipping with her!  we took the El...  the only way to go.  Chicago Diner is a really good vegetarian restaraunt! and we took our time to see what we want  book stores and record shops and the best pasta I ever had at Geppetos in Oak Park!  INtuit had Henry Darger's room reconstructed.  Owl shirt, Owl graffiti, Owl guitar strap, and Owl statues we saw.  food in some cafes.  We met my sister for tapas at Imberico and we stayed our last night 19 floors up in downtown Chicago looking over the river and lake!
Animatic is on pause/paws, Alex has Mononucleosis and I just got back from Chicago.  All the songs are ready to record but we will wait until maybe later this month or next when everyone is healthy and free.  Alex and I were both sick while we rocked out our last show!  Video from that show should be up on the media page soon...

1-27-08     Animatic is currently working on their album, Ballast Water.  It is projected to be finished by summer 2008.
I'm probably going to treat this page as my personal blog/animatic news.  I heard an interesting phrase on the radio the other day "...flipped like a hairdo."  Lately I try to match flyers with actual stage antics and/or visualizations.. In reference to my latest stage backdrop, a close friend of mine spoke in her sleep saying, "I ... SAW ... The Owl ... Separate  into THREE!!"  THE
DREAMLAND THEATER WILL BE HAVING LOCAL MUSIC THURSDAYS AGAIN!!  HOSTED BY BRAD PERKINS!!  COME EVERY THURSDAY!  ESPECIALLY THIS VALENTINE'S DAY BECAUSE ANIMATIC, FIELDS OF INDUSTRY, AND UMBERELLA CLOUD WILL BE THERE! --J.C.
